dashboard is an ugly twitterfied mess and i can't see my own posts. my perfectly healthy laptop has crashed twice today, and only while using tumblr. this might be the update that finally makes me go touch grass

Like… I genuinely can’t express how upset this layout makes me. It doesn’t feel like Tumblr anymore. Call me dramatic but I don’t care, the old layout meant a lot to me. I stuck through the NSFW ban, I stuck through the waves of porn bots and barely functioning search systems, because Tumblr was the one place on the Internet I felt safe from the endless march of everything must be the same algorithmically perfected greige blocking with ads targeted directly from your dreams. Tumblr has always been a refuge, the last liveable ruin of the colourful hectic Comic Sans “welcome to my blog!!” era.

Now it just looks like every other site.

  • Moth Mc is a little bit venomous. It’s her main defence against larger moths that may (and often do) try to hunt her. Unfortunately, she can’t actually bite the boys, since they’re just bones; though she may still attempt to when she’s spooked. You can imagine their absolute joy at how cute she is when she gets surprised, and instinctively chomps onto a stray hand with her tiny sharp teeth
  • But she has another very unique ability- sonar jamming. She can interrupt echolocation attempts that her big floofy antennae pick up. The only one who can still track her through her jamming is Red, as his time hunting during the day has made him good at many different tracking techniques.
  • Skull has the most issue with her echolocation jamming. He gets very distressed when she uses it. He became incredibly reliant on echolocation, during his time living in his cave, and because of his poor vision it’s his main sense. When she signal jams, it’s like he can’t see her anymore… he gets frantic and emotional, desperate for physical contact to make sure she hasn’t left him and she’s still there.
  • Every now and then, Skull just gets tunnel vision with her. She does something particularly cute, and he goes into come here, wife hunting mode and nothing can stop him. He’ll break down doors.
  • … Red is the only one that can get her away from a clingy Skull. He steps in sometimes, if she seems especially distressed and frightened. Nobody else would stand a chance.
  • She’s got a pretty obvious crush on Red. Who wouldn’t? He’s the ideal moth husband. Strong, emotional, handsome, he would make an excellent nest for her to relax in after she’s done hunting. She gets shy and fidgety around him.
  • … Red likes to tease her. He’ll pinch her cheeks, wink and purr, ‘oh you’ve got something in your antennae’ (gently strokes her antennae), anything of that sort. Her flustered reactions are great ego boosts… but also, he craves the confirmation that she’d have him as her mate if he just had the conviction to ask.
  • She likes Red’s scent the most. Sometimes, she steals things from his nests. He pretends he doesn’t know.
  • Skull gets jealous of Red’s superior nest building skills. Red gets jealous of Skull’s better hunting. Sans steals her away while the other two are busy being jealous.
  • Sans is her favourite! They can talk for hours. It aggravates the other two to no end that she’s so comfortable with him, yet her guard remains so firmly up with them. She’d never nap with them, but she’ll curl up next to Sans and snooze for hours.
  • As a fellow moth, she’s resistant to Sans’ sleep pheromones, but not immune- so his pheromones just make her calm and soothed.
  • He’s the only one she’ll invite to groom her. The other two are far too intimidating.
  • Unlike the boys, she hibernates for a few months in winter! During those months she loses most of her skittishness gets veeery sleepy, almost drunken. So sleepy, in fact, she can be scooped up and carried around by anyone… the guys take turns carrying her so nobody gets too possessive.
  • Skull has discovered that, as a winter moth, she craves warmth. So if she’s tired enough… when he steals her, his big wings and soft neck fur make her cuddle up.
also i love how skull has such a tiny eyelight gap when he catches her you can tell hes in Hunt mode compared to how he is when hes piling her with blankets... much wider softer eyelight thats bc hes in Husband mode instead moth sanses au moth mc au

oh god my dashboard layout finally updated. i hate it so much. @staff i love you, but please PLEASE make the new layout optional.

why can’t it be a toggle-able dashboard layout? ‘Tumblr new’ vs. 'Tumblr classic’? make a funky poll out of it, get a badge depending on which layout you use? 'This Tumblrina only uses Classic Dashboard’ merch?
